Little Nipper Rat Trap (Pack of 1 Trap)

This traditional rat trap is similar in design to the Little Nipper mouse trap. It is one of the most powerful on the market due to its strong spring, and is designed to kill rats quickly and humanely.

Rats tend to have established runs usually along the edge of walls rather than across open space. For best effect, therefore, set the traps along walls at right angles to the wall with the treadle (the part that the rat steps on to trigger the trap) closest to it. Alternatively set the traps in pairs, long-ways to the wall, with the treadles facing outwards. Placed in these ways the traps do not need to be baited as the rats will run across them rather than around them. Set the traps out of reach of children pets and other non-target animals. If set in narrow or low spaces, make sure that there is sufficient clearance for the trap to operate effectively once it has been sprung. Set the traps as finely as possible so that the trap will be sprung easily. If you do choose to bait the trap use chocolate or peanut butter. Leave the traps outside for a few days to weather before setting them and wear impervious gloves so that the traps do not smell of humans. Rats are cautious animals and will avoid new objects in their environment so do not be discouraged if they are not trapped straight away. If you are confident that the trap is placed where rats are running, avoid the temptation to move it for at least two weeks to allow the animals to get used to it.
