Cobra Insect Light Trap
The Cobra Insect Light Trap, manufactured by Brandenburg UK Ltd – a leader in the field of electronic fly killer technology, is designed either to be fixed to a wall or to be free standing and so is adaptable to a variety of situations. The Cobra Insect Light Trap is designed for home based and commercial kitchens or shops. It measures 344mm x 528mm x 128mm and weighs 4.75kg. It is powered by 2 x 15w ultra violet tubes. House flies, wasps, moths, carpet beetles and a wide range of other flying bugs are caught on two glue boards specially designed with a large surface area to hold as many flying insects as possible. The Cobra Insect Light Trap’s innovative design gives it an advantage over other similar sized electronic fly killers (EFK). In that its unique ultra violet dispersing technology allows the flying insect attracting light to be dispersed from the top, bottom and sides of the unit as well as from the front, so increasing the potential fly catch.
Under EU regulations each insect light trap must pay a £0.35p WEEE disposal tax. This is included in the product price. Please note your Cobra Insect Light Trap will be delivered to you directly from the manufacturer.
When installing your Cobra Insect Light Trap using the wall mounting don’t forget that the unit weighs nearly 5kg. Make sure that the wall on which you intend to mount the Cobra will take the weight safely. As with all electrical installations it is recommended that installation is undertaken by a professional electrician.
To maximise its effectiveness the siting of your Cobra Insect Light Trap is important. Don’t install it too close to windows as the ultra violet in daylight will compete with your Cobra, reducing its catch. Your objective is to attract and kill flies that are already in your kitchen. Don’t site your Cobra opposite open doors or windows, the effect may be to attract flies into your kitchen. Although Insect Light Traps that use glue boards are more efficient at holding dead flies than electronic fly killers that kill flies with an electrified grid, dead flies may fall from the unit. To avoid food contamination, don’t site your Cobra directly above food preparation surfaces or cooking facilities. Remember that your Cobra Insect Light Trap will require checking and servicing from time to time (both glue boards and ultra violet tubes will require regular checks and replacement) so don’t install your unit in a place where it is inaccessible.
In common with all insect light traps the level of ultra violet light given out by the tubes falls over time. Even though to the human eye the tubes may still be lit, older tubes may not be generating sufficient ultra violet light to attract flying insects. It is recommended that the tubes are replaced at least once a year. For maximum efficiency why not get into the habit of replacing your Cobra’s ultra violet tubes in the spring at the start of the fly season? PestFreeHome carries both replacement ultra violet tubes and glue boards for your Cobra Insect Light Trap
